This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information in School Absence Tracker. By using the app, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1) What We Collect
We collect the minimum information needed to operate the app and sync your household’s data:
- Account: Email address and authentication identifiers.
- Household & Members: Household identifier, invited members, roles (owner/guardian).
- Child Profiles: First name, last name, optional school and grade.
- Absences: Absence type, dates, reasons, notes, and related fields you enter.
- Attachments: Images/PDFs you upload (e.g., excuse notes).
- Support/Contact: When you contact us, we receive your message and contact details.
- Basic Diagnostics: We maintain server logs (e.g., function errors) without linking to personal content unless necessary for support or security.
2) How We Use Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve core app features.
- Authenticate users and authorize household access.
- Sync content across your devices and household.
- Send transactional emails (verification, password reset) and important service notices.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, security risks, or technical issues.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3) Who Can See Your Data
Only members of your household can access your household’s data. We enforce database access rules so that users outside your household cannot view or modify your content.
4) Third-Party Service Providers
We use reputable providers solely to operate the app:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.
- RevenueCat — subscription entitlements via Apple/Google. We do not store payment card data.
- Mailjet — transactional email (verification, password reset).
These providers act as our processors and are contractually limited to using your information only as needed to provide their services to us.
5) Cookies & Tracking
The mobile app does not use cross-app advertising trackers. If you visit our website, standard cookies may be used for essential site functions and, where applicable, basic analytics; see the site’s cookie disclosures for details.
6) Data Transfers
We operate primarily in the United States. If you access the app from another region, your information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
7) Data Retention & Deletion
- Retention: We keep your data for as long as your account remains active and as needed to operate the app.
- Deletion: You can delete your account in-app at any time. This removes your account and associated data you own. App Store/Play subscriptions must be canceled separately with Apple/Google.
- Backups: Backups are typically purged within ~30 days.
8) Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information, including encryption in transit and at rest and least-privilege access controls. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure; please use strong passwords and keep your device secure.
9) Children’s Privacy
The app is intended for parents/guardians. Children should not create accounts. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
10) Your Choices & Rights
- Access & Update: You can view and update most information in the app.
- Delete: Use the in-app delete function to remove your account and associated data you own.
- Email Preferences: Account-related emails are transactional and cannot be opted out of while the account is active.
- Region-Specific Rights: Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable laws. Contact us to exercise them.
11) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” above shows when it was last revised. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you (e.g., in-app notice). Your continued use means you accept the updated Policy.
